Joy of Adventuring offers suggestions to help families have meaningful experiences and stronger unity through family travel and adventuring together.
Our family loves doing hard things, adventuring together, sharing new experiences and being in nature. We consist of a ski instructor, a professor, a 1400 word per minute reader, a lacrosse face-off and a lover of life. Together we go through life with the mantra “Nurture Family Unity Through Adventure”.
We are here to share our experiences, thoughts, travels and all that is life in hopes of strengthening families everywhere. So come tag along and let’s see where it takes us.
HOW IT ALL STARTED
When I was pregnant with my oldest child we were living in Washington state. My husband and I were very active at the time. A defining moment for me was when I was told by a friend that I should enjoy the last few months of pregnancy because once the baby came my life was going to change and I would not be able to continue to do the things I love. It was at that exact moment I made up my mind that she would not define me.
I am happy to report that all of my children were biking with me by 6-8 weeks old, they all started skiing at age 2, hiking before they could walk and of course traveling with us everywhere we went. We were the family that sought adventures together and to this day continue to see the world together and experience new things.
Mothers often time define the family. If mom is willing, it can get done. Traveling with my family is a great opportunity to spend time together and strengthen our relationships. I am an advocate of family travel. It can sometimes be daunting, but is always worth the effort.
As a mother of 3 boys one of my main purposes is to raise children who are confident, accepting of others, smart, culturally sensitive, kind and interesting. In 2014 we had the opportunity to start traveling as a family for long periods of time through many different countries. Travel has taught them to accept others and themselves, while preparing for the real world. The Joy of Adventuring isn’t just your ordinary travel blog. It’s a chronicle of traveling, living, laughing, and loving together.
