Utah, I Love All it has to Offer

When you think of Utah what comes to mind? Red rock? Beautiful canyons? Arches? The Big 5? If so, you have just scratched the surface on what Utah has to offer. Utah has a reputation for some of the most beautiful landscapes and scenery in the world. Utah also has many undiscovered gems waiting to be found.

This weekend was quite an adventure for our family. We headed back to our roots in Davis County spending time hiking, exploring, e-biking and more. We even swam with stingrays. In Utah? Yep, who knew?

If you have a day or two to spend in this beautiful part of Utah here is a great itinerary.

Day 1 – Grab breakfast, we recommend Sill’s café or Scrambled, and head to SeaQuest where you can feed sloths, swim with stingrays and even get a fish pedicure. We easily spent half a day here touching and feeding sharks, swimming with stingrays, feeding otters and looking at the exhibits. The employees are knowledgeable and were happy to take time to educate us. As you can see, the stingrays were also happy. Did you know stingrays smile like that?

Lunch at Hus Hes in Syracuse on your way to Antelope Island for the Hike and e-Bike Sunset Tour with Antelope Ebikes. Children must be 12 years old to go on this tour. If you have younger children you can drive up to the parking lot and hike to Buffalo Point via the trailhead. This short hike offers 360 degree views of the Great Salt Lake and the Salt Lake Valley. Do not forget your bug spray and keep your eyes peeled for the resident Bison herd. Keep your distance as these magnificent animals can easily outrun you. Grab dinner in Farmington Station near the Hyatt Place hotel before checking in to your comfortable room.

Day 2 – Get up and hit the Elephant Rock trail as early as it suits your family. Breakfast is easily picked up from the hotel. This trail is located in Bountiful, Utah a short 10-15 minute drive from the hotel. The colors along this 7 mile out and back trail are lovely in the morning. The first mile has “steepish” switchbacks and the next 2.5 miles gently wind up to the rock. When you come to a split in the trail stay left where you will find a nice bench to enjoy the views.

After the hike swing by an old staple, Cutler’s sandwiches, for a great lunch and a yummy cookie before heading to Lagoon for the remainder of the day. Lagoon has some amazing coasters. Don’t forget to try Wicked and let me know how you like it. I may or may not have lost my voice on this ride from screaming. Eat dinner at Lagoon or, my recommendation, leave the park at dinner time and head over to Twig’s in Station Park Farmington. The food was delicious.

And that’s a wrap to one of the funnest weekends we have had in a long time. Discover Davis and keep up with all the latest info for this area here.

Happy Travels!

  1. We have been lucky enough to visit Utah for skiing, but never for hiking. It looks fantastic. We definitely need to visit again one day.

    1. Utah has excellent skiing, but the hiking is out of this world as well. Hopefully you can come and do a hiking trip. If you do, I am happy to recommend some of our favorites!

This looks looks like an incredible area to visit ! I can’t believe you can swim with stingrays in Utah – that’s pretty cool. But I think just taking in all the beauty of the landscape would be so amazing. I also have only been to Utah to ski – I definitely need to get back there in warmer weather…
